I had the pleasure of spending my birthday at the beautiful Park Hyatt St. Kitts, and it was beyond special! This luxury five-star resort is only 20 minutes from the airport, but feels like a world away. Unlike so many Caribbean island resorts, the Park Hyatt is secluded, quiet and luxurious.

From the stunning grounds to the amazing amenities and top-notch service, it is truly a standout and the ideal destination for a romantic getaway or quiet retreat.

The Property

The Park Hyatt is a slice of paradise within paradise! It is located in Christophe Harbour, which is a quiet, picturesque part of the island on the southern peninsula. The resort is situated directly on Banana Bay, which is a pristine stretch of beach.

The property is stunning, with lush foliage, bright flowers and incredible views of the Caribbean Sea and the island of Nevis in the distance.

The Service

The service at the St. Kitts Park Hyatt is impeccable, starting from the moment you step foot on the property. We were greeted immediately at the front entrance and treated to a rum punch as we checked in.

JJ, an incredibly warm and friendly staff member who we would come to know very well during out stay whisked us away in a golf cart to give us a tour of the property while our luggage was being brought to our room.

When we arrived in our room, we got a quick tour and were greeted with a lovely welcome note and a sweet treat — in our case, they Park Hyatt had a delicious birthday cake waiting for me!

We were able to enjoy it on our gorgeous balcony listening to the gentle waves.

The personalized level of service was consistent throughout our stay. Everyone was incredibly kind, attentive and helpful, offering recommendations and advice.

The Rooms

The rooms are modern, bright, airy and comfortable. It is the perfect place to unwind after a day full of exploring!

All of the rooms have spacious balconies and overlook the Caribbean, offering amazing views of Nevis across the bay. Select suites also feature luxurious plunge pools and outdoor showers. The rooms on the upper floors have the best views and offer a lot more privacy than the ground-floor rooms.

The bathrooms also have the Park Hyatt’s signature luxurious deep soaking tubs and are stocked with high-end Le Labo toiletries.

The Beach

The resort is just steps from a peaceful stretch of beach along Banana Bay with a stunning view of Nevis. It’s incredibly serene and quiet. I never saw more than a few people walking or lounging along the water during my stay.

There are chairs and umbrellas provided for free, as well beach towels, sunscreen stations and ice-cold lemon water.

The Pools

The resort pools were the highlight for me! There are two on property, both with amazing sea views. They offer convenient poolside service. All you have to do is raise the flag on your table. Both pools are open 24 hours a day.

The Rampart Pool:

This is an adults-only infinity pool built into massive stone arches, a callback to the historic British defense systems on the island. The layout offers privacy and seclusion across multiple levels, in different areas. There are also cabanas for rent for an added level of luxury.

The Lagoon Pool:

This massive pool has a man-made beach with shallow water that gets deeper before ending in an infinity waterfall. There are chairs in the sandy area, as well as around the edges of the pool. Despite being kid-friendly, it was still very quiet and incredibly peaceful!

Activities

There’s so much to do on the property, you don’t even need to leave the resort! (Although I do highly recommend you explore this gorgeous island - and I have an itinerary incoming that has all that information!)

Water sports equipment is available at the Recreation Hut, including kayaks and paddleboards. (We wanted to take advantage of this included perk, but it’s very windy and this side of the island and the water was just too rough during our stay.)

There are also shuffleboards, giant connect-four, pickle ball and life-sized chess boards placed throughout the property, as well as outdoor movie screenings.

While we were there, we had a chance to indulge in some s’mores on the beach in front of the bonfire! All of this is included with your stay.

The Food

Breakfast Mimosas at the Park Hyatt

The Great House: This is where breakfast is served. You can choose to dine either inside or outside. You have the choice between the buffet and an a-la carte menu. The crab benedict is delicious and the mimosas are incredible! We also popped in the night we arrived, just before closing, and the burger we tried was out of this world!

Fisherman's Village: Located on a pier designed to look like a traditional fisherman hut. This restaurant focuses on seafood and other local Caribbean cuisine. On Saturdays, they serve a “Kittitian Buffet."

Stone Barn: This a sophisticated, upscale, fine-dining adults-only restaurant in an intimate setting. Meals are chef-curated and prepared in an open kitchen. Share the mixed seafood paella and try not to fill up on the fluffy, addicting bread!

Drinks at the Rampart Pool Bar

Rampart Pool Bar: This is a great spot to grab a snack by the pool. We took cover here during one of the Caribbean’s famous quick-passing rain showers. They have fresh grilled food and local beer from the Nevis Brewery across the way.

Fane's Beach Bar: This was closed during my visit, but guests love the setup, right on the sand. The sorbet, smoothies and gelato are very popular!

Room service: I’m never one to order room service, but after a long couple of days of exploring, we couldn’t muster the energy to leave the room! I was honestly blown away by the creamy truffle pasta we had delivered. The best part is you can order right from an app on your phone!

Other Useful Info

ree
  • The property is large and sprawling, which may prove to be a challenge for those with mobility issues. You can call the front desk to get a ride around!

  • The pools are beautiful, but they aren’t heated, so they are quite chilly. The shallower Lagoon Pool is a bit warmer. Also, the Rampart pool is quite deep for those of us who are height-challenged!

  • Service is top-notch, but just remember you’re on island time, now! Food and drinks do take a while, so just be prepared to be patient

  • Unlike many Caribbean island resorts, there is no nightlife scene here and things close quite early. Don’t count on a late-night drink or snack. This isn't a criticism, just an FYI.

  • If you want to visit Nevis, you can catch the water taxi across the channel right from the Park Hyatt’s dock. It's an amazing day trip!
